"A little bit of nervousness here in September feels exactly typical, very normal," said Arnold Berman, technology strategist for Wit Soundview Technology Group. He and others said that nervousness was likely to persist until next month's third-quarter earnings season, when technology stocks typically begin to rally. Berman said technology stocks are "hyperseasonal," pointing out that from 1984 to 1998, big tech stocks scored virtually all their gains from the year in the five months from mid-October to mid-March.
